If you want to get promoted, if you wan to move to the next level in your career, first of all, think about two things:
1. First of all, Am I really eligible for this? Do I deserve this move to the next Level?
2. Secondly, how this is going to help me in my life?
If you have the answer to these two questions and you are clear about them, you are positive, then yes, please start the process, take the steps towards your career progress.
WHERE THERE IS A CAUSE, THERE IS AN EFFECT
Only when you have put in the necessary effort, you can expect the returns. But yes, where there is a cause, there is an effect. And, where there is a will, there is a way.
So put in the necessary efforts and contributions first and try to explain it to the concerned person(s), audience, customer or whoever is concerned and then things will start to work in your favor.
So, when you have put in all the work - certainly the world will pay for it.
No cause goes without any effect. In some form or the other, there will be somebody, some day, who will recognize your talent, your skill, your potential and your contribution. So you might have to be a little patient for things to happen. But lack of progress is not the same as patience. Sincere progress, hard work and real contribution will get real tangible benefits, its just that, some time is required for fruitful things to happen.
PROMOTION IS NOT EASY
Having said that, promotion is not easy, but yes, it is not very difficult.
Have your life plan ready, in the first place, then your career plan is far easier. You can figure out what kind of move you should make and how you can work towards it. And, try to be innovative, try to contribute something which can deliver tangible business results to the organization. Keep learning new things that are related to your area of specialization, field or discipline and translate that learning into action. Be action oriented, be result oriented and be proactive.
Above all, if you are not passionate and confident on what you do and what you deliver, others cannot be dependent on you, others cannot be confident on you and they cannot understand your potential.
So be clear, be sure on what you want and be prepared to put in the necessary effort and make yourself eligible for the next level. And, remember delays can happen, but they may not be denials. There may be hindrances, roadblocks, and obstacles, but they are not permanent, you just need to go past them.
PERSONAL LIFE AND PROFESSIONAL CAREER PROGRESS
Only when you can align your personal aims and ambitions to your professional goals and objectives it is possible to succeed in your career.
So determine what is it that you want, how it can help you lead a better life - then decide on what you need to do and take action.
Once you are clear are what you need to do, you have to identify who can help you in this endeavor - is it the organization process, is it a lateral move (moving to similar position, in a different department or business unit) or a vertical move (probably in the same or different department or business unit, but at a level higher).
Understand what policies and procedures are in place in your organization and try to fit in your career plan to figure out the time line - check and compare this estimate with your life plan - if it suits, then yes, you are well on your path to your promotion , to your next level in your career.
